1 column, 27 lines written on recto across the fibers. Regular cursive. Left margin: 3.5 cm. Papyrus is much damaged. Number "38" written in red ink in left margin. Menches informs Horos that the oil-seller of Kerkeosiris had discovered that oil (a state monopoly) was being smuggled, appending a copy of the petition from the oil-seller (Apollodoros) to Menches. The letter is dated to the 4th year of Polemy IX Soter II, the 14th of the Egyptian month Mecheir (Mar. 2, 113 B.C.) Petitions from the same oil-seller are P.Tebt.39, P.Tebt.157, and P.Tebt.1094.
