Description: Anna was secretary at the American Embassy in Iran at the time. The photo was taken at Ur on a drive from Baghdad to Basra around New Year's Day possibly in 1959. The great ziggurat is in the background. To the left, downhill, is the vast expanse of the ancient city. Anna is in the left foreground, followed by an unknown and an Iraqi guard. Born in Salinas, Anna Elkington worked for the United States Foreign Service as a secretary and lived all over the world. Information provided by Anna Elkington 2013.
