Photograph caption dated December 24, 1955 reads, "Ogden Phipps' Great Captain, shown with exercise rider Leon Butler, is one of hundreds of horses back at Santa Anita where the 55-day meeting is to open Monday with a banner holiday program. Great Captain won the San Marcos Handicap over the grass at Santa Anita last year." The racetrack is in Arcadia.
