Description
1989-1293. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 38. Front and center is an elaborately decorated head stone of a grave; tomb stone has a linear border around it; information is sculpted into the stone and above the information is a three-dimensional wreath; at apex of stone is a plant-like element with curling leaves on both sides of a stem; other curly leaves flank the central one; behind and to the sides of tomb stone are other graves; large, leafy trees and evergreens are scattered through this cemetery. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Born Dec. 7, 1805. Died, July 20th, 1849...and Wm.M. Thomans, his son, Born. Aug. 11th, 1840.Died May 2nd, 1858."
