Description
Interior view of Hugo and Victoria Reid's adobe at the Arboretum. Four poster and trundle beds are still in the bedroom. Ornately painted chest (right), used for storage, bedwarmer and reed cradle are typical of times. Note ceiling of reeds. Photo dated: March 29, 1964.; The adobe was constructed in 1840 with the help of Gabrielino laborers and built of sun-dried adobe blocks made by mixing clay soil, water and a straw binder. The adobe is designated California Historical Landmark No. 368. The ranch was owned by E. J. "Lucky" Baldwin from 1875 to 1909.
