Title supplied by cataloger. Northridge Receiving Hospital, later renamed Northridge Hospital, then Northridge Hospital Medical Center, was founded by Dr. Frederick Gruneck in 1955. Photograph caption dated October 16, 1962 reads, "Hospital Admits 50,000th Patient -- He's 81-year-old Hugh McGinnis, 4951 Leeds St., Santa Susana, who was admitted to Northridge Hospital Thursday for surgery. McGinnis is expected to be back home Wednesday. Shown with him is Mrs. Bess Dunton, Chatsworth, registered nurse, and Dr. Frederick Gruneck, administrator of Northridge Hospital. McGinnis was born in Ireland and came to this country in 1902. Four years later he went to Panama and helped build the Panama Canal. He stayed in Panama until he retired in 1943 working on Canal operations."
