San Fernando Valley State College later became California State University, Northridge. Photograph caption dated April 20, 1962 reads, "Jennifer Dickens Raine, the great-great-granddaughter of English author Charles Dickens, holds an original copy of one of the writers' works as she makes a visit to the Charles Dickens Exhibition at Valley State College in Northridge. Dr. Harry Stone, professor of English and coordinator of the exhibit, stands in the rear. The exhibit, which commemorates the 150th anniversary of Dickens' birth, is said to be the largest and most comprehensive ever assembled in Southern California. It runs Monday through May 5. Admission is free. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays at the college, 18111 Nordhoff St."
