Description
Bartley thanks Westmacott for his kindness in writing after "negligence" on his part and regrets that he cannot accept his invitation. He also mentions his efforts to find the manuscripts of the lectures Westmacott requested. The letter is pasted onto a page taken from Richard Bolton Barton's scrapbook and is written on black mourning stationery [most likely for Bartley's wife, who died the same year]. The fifth page of the letter is blank.
Handwritten letter, autographed, pasted on scrapbook page: Philbrick Library of Dramatic Arts and Theatre History, Autograph letters box 1, folder 25; 5 pages pasted into one sheet
