The city as it was in the late nineteenth century. A handwriting caption at the top left of the photograph reads: "Claremont, Calif. about 1896-7." Additional captions identify the buildings in the image. Moving left to right, the handwriting captions read: "Grammar School," "From Bladwin House looking North (Cor. 2d & Warren College Ave.)," "H.W. Jones Residence," and "Sumner Hall."
