Description
A group photograph of presumably Japanese incacerees in the Manzanar camp, who gathered to commemorate Imperial Japanese Navy Lieutenant Takatsugu Umebayashi's heroic action. The handwriting on the back reads: 1946年吉日國連マンザナ写真 1946-nen Kokuren Manzana shashin. 1945 10.
The Akamine and Fuchita Family Papers include letters, certificates, photographs, scrapbooks, high school yearbooks, and other materials related to the Akamine, Fuchita, and Yasumura families. Subjects in the collection include the Manzanar and Rohwer incarceration camps, Koyasan Buddhist Temple, Buddhism, World War II, and Japanese American families, and other topics.
