Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated December 20, 1960 partially reads, "Nearly 50 years as a lawyer and judge will end soon in a well-earned leisure for a spry, 72-year-old Valley jurist. He is Leonard W. Hamner, municipal court judge in Burbank since 1950, who will retire Feb. 1. Admitted to the bar in 1911 in Kansas, Judge Hamner served as Saline County Attorney in that state until coming to California. He was admitted to the California bar in 1922, served with the district attorney's office from 1923-26, then practiced law in Burbank until he was named justice of the peace in 1949. He moved to the judgeship the next year. Now, after a career that has included participation in some of the area's most spectacular court cases, the jurist wants to travel."
