Photograph was edited for publication purposes The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated April 26, 1954 reads, "Bulldogging exercise - Bud Corwin is shown about to throw a steer in a preview of the bulldogging event for intercollegiate Rodeo at Pierce J.C. campus. Invitations have been issued to more than 40 Western colleges to participate in rodeo, a recognized National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association show."
