Domenico (Dominic) Di Ciolla, was one of the earliest leaders of what became known as the Los Angeles crime family. He was involved in bootlegging and allegedly several murders. He was found murdered near Pacoima in 1931, after challenging other crime bosses in an attempt to expand his expand his criminal operations.
Photograph caption dated March 20, 1931 reads "This photo shows officer C. E. Bone, in uniform, searching Jerry Dellolio, left, and Officer P. S. Halliburton booking him as the machinery of the police turned." Dellolio was a suspect in the murder of Dominic Di Ciolla.
