The left face of South Battery. Every other position is occupied by a Columbiad cannon, with plenty of ammunition and rammer staffs at the ready. The nearest pyramid of cannon balls appears to have been freshly painted, a common fatigue duty for troops. Goat Island is visible in the distance.
