Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph caption dated July 26, 1951 reads, "Ivar Street became Ivar river early today as a flash flood swept down from broken water main (arrow) at Yucca Avenue, one block north of Hollywood Boulevard in the heart of the world's film capital. Shortly after this picture was taken, all autos parked down Ivar Street were moved for fear of a street cave-in. The basement of the Knickerbocker Hotel (right) was flooded. Waters rushed all the way to Sunset."
