Photograph caption dated January 2, 1959 reads, "A great Santa Claus standing 18 feet high with a girth 12 feet wide continues to stop traffic in front of the home of Leroy McFarlen, Lockheed tool designer of 8642 Costello Ave., Panorama City. Huge Santa almost dwarfs house and awes young and old. McFarlen fashioned tumbleweeds around a wooden frame to keep the Santa upright. Only problem says McFarlen is getting him down and to the refuse yard after today."
