Description
Photograph caption date stamped April 25, 1958 reads, "David Corrente, 11, seated in his winning car, is flanked by Joseph W. Perry, marketing manager for the Hancock Oil Co., and Indianapolis 500-mile winner Sam Hanks after compiling the top total of points to capture the $1,000 Hancock quarter-midget scholarship in the recent series of races. Representing the Ventura track, David compiled 27 1/2 points to 25 each for Gene Shipley, 13, Glendale, and Howard (Buster) Vernard, 15, Panorama City, and 22 1/2 for Kathy Meyers, 13, Corbin."
