Photo showing four band members from the Koyasan Boy Scout Troop 379, rehearsing at dusk in downtown. The Koyasan troop was started on Nov. 5, 1931, and through the years became a familiar presence in Little Tokyo, performing annually in the Nisei Week Parade and serving as an honor guard during community events. In 1935, the troop was named an outstanding troop by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and was invited to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Washington, D.C. The Koyasan Boy Scout Troop 379 celebrated its 75th anniversary on Oct. 2006. It is headquartered at 342 E. 1st Street. Photograph dated 2000.
