Photograph caption dated October 6, 1950 reads, "Valley petitions seeking abolition of cross filing, circulated by members of the League of Women Voters, were turned into the Los Angeles movement's headquarters today, Mrs. Forrest Anderson, of Sherman Oaks, announced. There are more than 44,000 petitions in circulation. The leaders of the effort must have 127,000 valid signatures before Nov. 7. Mrs. Anderson reported that the Valley's response to the petitions was satisfactory. 'But we need more,' she said."
