Description
A story of Los Angeles, Boyle Workman's book, "The City that Grew," was on sale on January 25, 1936, at the Broadway department store, where pioneer Mr. Workman autographed copies. The photo shows him signing the first books. Left to right, Orpha Klinker Carpenter, who illustrated the book, Mr. Workman, Pat Shea, and Anne La Belle. The book, which he wrote in collaboration with Caroline Walker of The Evening Herald and Express, was first published as a serial in the paper.
