Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of Santa Monica Beach looking north from the Palisades, ca.1908. The broad, sandy expanse of the beach curves along the shore at left as white-capped waves break against it. Bordering the beach is a two-lane paved highway, and running parallel to this is a railroad. There are steep cliffs facing the ocean at right, and these are topped with various plants. There are mountains visible in the distance. Two signs are planted into the sand at left, and both are slightly damaged. One reads "Patronize the Canyon Bath House", while the other is illegible.
