Photograph was edited for publication purposes; Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated September 13, 1963 reads, "Last spring when the second grade at Lassen Street School in Sepulveda left for summer vacation, the tots left behind a class project - chickens that had been hatched and raised under the watchful eye of the youngsters. When Edward Mylrea, 10, left, and Jerry Porter, 6, both Sepulveda, ventured back this week to look over the crop of chickens, the little chickens were gone. Instead they found full-sized hens. Peggy Ayers, the school's vice principal, said the boys were happy to see the change. The hen? Quite indifferent to the whole affair."
