The plaque reads, “In grateful and affectionate memory of Mary Dow of Montreal, Canada who departed this life August 2, 1892, aged 75 years. This hospital is erected by her daughters Mary and Jessie Dow October 1899.” The Women’s Association for Foreign Missions operated several medical facilities in the Punjab region, including a hospital in both Sialkot, opened in 1901, and Gujrat, opened in 1899. The Dow Memorial Hospital staff consisted of Dr. Annie Smith and Dr. Charlotte Park, and specialised in the needs of women and children.
