Description
Exterior view of Wardman Hall, Whittier College, on August 10, 1937. This building, located in the center of the campus, served as the men's dormitory. The shrubbery in the foreground forms two concentric rings. In 1887, the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) established the town of Whittier and the Whittier Academy. Over time the academy evolved into Whittier College, which was chartered by the State of California in 1901 with a student body of 25.
