This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written under photo: "Looking N.W. from roof of Odd Fellows Building 7th and Market Street 1899. Hall of Records on left. St. Mary's Cathedral in distance. McAllister and Leavenworth lower right hand. 1899." City Hall Avenue can also be seen running diagonally across the other streets in the lower left. Market Street Railroad cable car can be seen on McAllister, with the Omnibus cable rails leading from City Hall Avenue into Leavenworth Street. Behind the Hall of Records, the St. Paulus Lutheran Church can be seen under construction, dating the photo to 1894.
