Description
This circa 1960 photograph shows the Bethesda Christian Church, at 209 J St. The structure had been erected in 1855 by Irishman John C. Keenan as the fabled Fashion Saloon. In addition to his saloon duties, Keenan was a member of the Texas Rangers and Sutter Rifle, along with being a firefighter and a gold prospector.
