Candy, a warm pair of socks and a traditional free Christmas Goodwill Dinner was served to more than 1500 men at the Union Rescue Mission, 226 South Main Street. Dining in adjacent facilities were many servicemen. Booklets relating the story of Christmas were also handed out during services in the mission chapel. The cost for each meal was 93 cents.
