Photograph caption dated May 7, 1964 reads, "Prep stars - Three of the Valley's finest prep trackmen will be shooting for first place in their respective leagues Friday when the East and West Valley leagues hold their finals. Jay combs of Chatsworth High, top photo, will be after the top spot in the WVL meet at Taft High School, 5461 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills. Shot-putter Steve Johnson of Monroe High, right, will be trying to break the magic 60-foot-mark in the iron ball event. Don Ford, left, also of Monroe, is entered in the 120-yard high hurdles and the 440 in the EVL meet at Van Nuys High, 6535 Cedros Ave." Pictured is Jay Combs.
