Description
Students recite "The Pledge of Allegiance" at Lankershim Elementary School. Lankershim Elementary is the oldest elementary school in North Hollywood; it serves grades K-5, and per 2006 statistics, it has 908 students enrolled, 50 teachers employed, along with 1 psychologist and 1 nurse. The school was named after the community's original name of Lankershim. The area was subsequently renamed North Hollywood in an effort to capitalize on the glamour and proximity of Hollywood proper. Fun fact: Norma Jean Baker, better known as Marilyn Monroe, was a student at Lankershim Elementary School. Photograph dated October 9, 2000.
