This photo shows Danny Kaplan sitting at a wooden table in his artists' studio, which was the former Venice Vanguard printing press, with a filter mask lifted up onto his forehead. Behind him, several of his works are displayed on the wall. Danny began painting in 1999, shortly after being gifted the last remaining supply of vibrant acrylics that once belonged to L.A. abstract expressionist, Sam Francis. Danny's conceptually grounded and abstract art integrates layered colors and text to convey what he describes as "simple expressions of multi-complex ideas". Photograph dated January 21, 2005.
