Description
Pouring prunes into trays for drying. Cannery was located on Lundy Lane in Berryessa. Featured on page 25 of Connie Young Yu's "Chinatown, San Jose, U.S.A." with caption: The J. H. Flickinger Cannery was located in the Berryessa area of San Jose. According to Sunshine, Fruit and Flowers, published in 1896, "[Flickinger's] fruit is all packed by white men and women, who are required to exercise care that neatness and cleanliness shall characterize all their work."
