Los Gatos held a Floral Carnival and Feast of Lanterns for May Day 1909. Festivities included a parade of vehicles decorated with flowers. Mrs. J. R. Welch won a trophy for "Best Decorated Auto driven by a Lady." Her 1908 Rambler was bedecked with pink roses and gauze butterflies. Mrs. Welch sits at the wheel of her car with her husband Judge J. R. Welch at her side. In the second seat, Camellia March, Judge Fred B. Brown and Jane Marsh are seated. In the back seat, Mrs. Brown, Judge John E. Richards and Mrs. Richards are seated. The Rambler is parked in front of Interurban Railroad cars.
