Description
A woman in dress for 1825. She wears a lilac turban with gold stripes and trim. She is adorned with sapphire blue earrings and a gold necklace with sapphire blue gems. The round neckline of her dress is very wide and trimmed with yellow-gold ribbon work. Her sleeves are puffed with cinches around the upper arm, and three around the wrist and forearm. The shoulder puff is dark purple with white ruffles. The lower sleeve is white with purple ribbon detailing. The sleeve ends with a white ruffle. Her bodice is plain dark purple and is gathered at the waist by a yellow-gold belt with a circular buckle. The floor length skirt of the dress is dark purple and has a wide band around the hem of cross-hatched purple material. She wears a pair of white shoes. In her hands she holds the ends of a pale yellow shawl,trimmed with fringe. The corners and ends of the shawl are decorated with swirl designs. The outfit has a Renaissance inspired style.
