Description
Letter from Ernest Besig to Clifford Forster, referring to included information about assembly center regulations. Besig writes, "It seems to me that army is treating these people just like prisoners. I don't know what can be done about it, especially since the Corporation [ACLU] has taken such a milk and water attitude on the evacuation question." Besig asserts that the Northern California ACLU chapter was in accord with existing policy of ACLU national at the time they voted to intervene in the Korematsu case.
The ACLU-Northern California case file records contain legal documents and correspondence pertaining to the case argued before the Supreme Court in Korematsu v. United States (1944), challenging the constitutionality of Executive Order 9066.
