Description
This 1949 photograph shows the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1350 Twenty-Fifth Street. Since 1944, Zion had been under the direction of Reverend Elmer Johnson. The congregation closed doors at the pictured location in the 1949/50 in favor of a new facility at Twenty-First and Larkin Streets, while also changing its name to the Luther Memorial Church. After selling its property in May 1960 to the United Christian Centers, the group again moved in May 1960, into a new structure at 1900 Portrero Way.
