Photograph was edited for publication purposes Before separating and being renamed the San Fernando Valley State College, the school was originally established as a satellite campus for the Los Angeles State College (now the California State University, Los Angeles). Later the San Fernando Valley State College was renamed the California State University, Northridge. Photograph caption dated December 13, 1956 reads, "Looking over toys and books collected on Northridge campus of Los Angeles State College are, from left, Dorri Schaeffer, student chairman of charity committee; Robert Lawrence, coordinator of students, and Phill McMullen, student representative.
