Photo shows the flood waters in the dam in Verdugo Wash, above the Oakmont Country Club. The water rose to 20 feet in the dam and at one time three feet of water was flowing over the wier, at right. Flood control officials said this dam and others in the Big Tujunga, La Crescenta and Montrose districts were adequate to take care of the storm waters and that there was no danger of a disastrous flood. Water flowing over the wiers and through flood gates was carried off in regular flood channels. The districts worst hits were west of Los Angeles and around Watts and Compton, where traffic was halted. Photo dated: April 12, 1935.
