Description
Photograph of a view of Main Street between Third Street and Fourth Street in Los Angeles showing the Good Fellows Grotto, ca.1918. The wide paved surface of Main Street is at center and heads into the distance at center. There are two sets of streetcar tracks running down the middle of the road, and each set of tracks is occupied by a streetcar. There are also several horse-drawn vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians contributing to the traffic on the busy road. The street is lined with cement sidewalks and buildings. Most of the buildings are at least three stories high, but there is a single-story building in the foreground at left with awnings out front. Legible signs include, from left to right, "German Seed & Plant Co.", "Seeds Poultry Supplies Plants", "[L]umber", "Brent's", "Hotel", "West Ninth St.", "Enjoy pure Coca Cola Healthful", "The Good Fellows Grotto Grill and Oyster House", "Seeds", and "J. Morris & Co. Money Lenders".
