Description
Image of children, identified as Jack and Jim Roberts (the sons of Fred and Florence Roberts), driving a cart and pony through a creek in the Solstice Canyon area in Malibu, California, with a dog. One person is identified as Bill Sullivan, but it is not clear whether it is the man or one of the other children.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). "Jack and Jim Roberts and Bill Sullivan, Rancho Rumba, Malibu" was note with item as it was received with a group of copy negatives identified as Fred and Florence Roberts, Rancho Rumba, Malibu. Title based on note with item as it was received; date devised by cataloger based on history of the Roberts Family in Solstice Canyon and related items. Fred L. Roberts (died 1976) was a grocer who founded Roberts Public Market in Santa Monica; he and his wife, Florence Roberts, owned a ranch in Solstice Canyon, Malibu (see Los Angeles Times, "Funeral Services to Be Held for Businessman Fred Roberts, August 7, 1976, page d8).
