Description
Special holiday edition of newspaper reporting on issues related to individuals of Japanese ancestry. Feature articles include “Future of the nisei on his own” by Dillon S. Myer, “Heart Mountain: In life and death” by Vaughn Mechau, “The Cycle: The story of evacuation,” “They came to Washington” by John Kitasago and articles on nisei veterans, Hawaii, issues related to camp closure, linguists during the war, and prejudice. Also includes advertisements for Japanese owned businesses.
The Japanese American Archival Collection documents the people, places, and daily life of Japanese Americans, primarily those who lived in the once thriving community of pre-war Florin in the Sacramento region, as well as the conditions in American incarceration camps during World War II. The approximately 7,000 original items include personal and official letters, photographs, diaries, arts and crafts, newsletters, textiles, camps artifacts, yearbooks and other publications.
