Description
Jose´ Huizar, City Councilman for the 14th District, stands at a stairwell on 5th and Figueroa. He was elected to fill the seat vacated by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in a special election held on November 8, 2005. Prior to being elected as Councilman for the 14th District, Huizar had served as President of the Board of Education of the Los Angeles Unified School District (2003-2005), as well as Board Member (2001-2005), was he Deputy City Attorney in the Real Estate and Environmental Division of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, and was an appointed member of the East Los Angeles Planning Commission. Jose´ was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, and raised in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Photo dated: September 8, 2004.
