Description
Photograph caption dated December 25, 1957 reads, "Roy Smith, right, checks 'Kidnik' car he designed and built as Christmas present for his two boys Bob, 9, and Jim, 6. Working with him at left is Jack Anderson, a friend. Sidewalk space vehicle has body of fiber-glass and is powered by small electric engine. Jet exhaust pipes are ornamental only, but nine-foot vehicle is capable of speeds up to 12 mph, somewhat under the speed of sound."
