Photograph caption dated May 11, 1964 reads "Craig Fertig, USC quarterback, gets off a pass as John Thomas (80) puts the rush on him in SC's spring football practice wrap-up game Saturday. Fertig was later injured in the intrasquad game, when tackled, but the knee injury is not believed to be serious."
