June Dougherty (1920-2011), well-known local historian, discusses the early years of the Crescenta-Cañada area, beginning with the Rancho Era when the Verdugo family obtained Rancho San Rafael. She continues her historical discussion through the purchase of the land by Colonel Williams and the Lanterman family.
