Photograph article dated March 23, 1950 partially reads, "A boy's homemade kite got tangles up in some power lines near Arminta St. and Wilbur Ave. in Reseda. Results: (1) Two 4000-volt wires came down, cutting off electrical service to hundreds of Reseda and Northridge homes for an hour late yesterday. (2) The wires hit the steel cab of a truck, and a spluttering, flashing explosion took place. (3) One of the wires also touched a 6-year-old boy and burned his chin and hands." Photograph caption reads, "Escapes death - Burned by a high voltage wire snagged by a kite, Allen 'Butch' Markow, 6, escaped serious injury in Reseda today. He is shown with his father, Howard, after first aid treatment."
