Photograph caption dated August 9, 1984 reads, "Yesterday was the start of Olympic archery at El Dorado Park in Long Beach and arrows were falling all over the place. Though the targets are the same size for all the bowmen and women, the participants vary from a wheelchair-bound Neroli Fairhall of New Zealand to a rather portly gentleman in the photo. In archery--included in the Games from 1900 to 1920 but dropped until 1972 and a now a permanent fixture--women shoot from 30, 50,60 and 70 meters and men from 30, 50, 70 and 90 meters in four days of competition."
