Caption from July 26, 1983 Sacramento Bee reads, "Trail Blazing: Construction work continued Monday on the second of three legs of the final section of the American River bike trail. Work on the north side of the river near Hazel Avenue will eventually extend the trail to Nimbus Dam, in the background. Still to be constructed is the leg from the dam to Negro Bar, which will complete the 32-mile trail from Old Sacramento to Folsom Lake."
