Description
An article from the 1889 September 28 edition of the Whittier Pointer reports that Dr. Walter Lindley has just returned from San Francisco where he was a delegate to the National Conference of Charities and Corrections. The article reports that Governor Waterman delivered the opening address urging businessmen to visit charitable institutions and that General Nelson A. Miles delivered an address stating that he had visited all the penitentiaries from Maine to Florida. The article goes on to say that the subject of reform schools was thoroughly discussed.
