Lisa Fernandez and her rising fastball have baffled opponents since her days at Lakewood's St. Joseph's High, where she racked up 69 shutouts, 37 no-hitters, and 12 perfect games. Fernandez then starred at UCLA, leading the Bruins to a 93-7 record, with two national titles, before she helped the U.S. win gold medals in Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000).
