Norvel Young shakes hands with Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (R), Shah (or Shahanshah) of Iran, after the latter received an honorary doctorate from Pepperdine University during a 35-minute audience at Tehran's Golestan Palace in 1977. As a result of this audience, his Imperial Majesty established a $1 million chair at Pepperdine's School of Education in the name of Her Royal Majesty, Empress Farah of Iran.
